This unique instrument is specifically designed for the detection
of rapid kinetics. It can be easily integrated with the Bio-Logic
stopped flow-quenched flow equipment, under the control of
the same computer and software. This combination provides
a very powerful kinetics analysis system, with high sensitivity
and very fast data acquisition.
The Spectrometer can be configured to measure reactions by
UV absorbance, fluorescence, or light scattering. There is
also a dual detection mode for recording UV absorbance plus
fluorescence, or two different fluorescence wavelengths. Fibre
optics link the spectrometer excitation and emission monochromators
to the external stop flow observation cuvette.
Fast kinetics are observed at fixed wavelength, with the
data acquisition period selectable from 50 milliseconds to
1000 seconds. The system can also be operated as a normal
fluorescence spectrometer with exitation and emission wavelength
scans.

Fibre Optics Link Stop Flow to Multi Mode Spectrometer

Fluorescence detected refolding of lysozyme at only 3
µg/ml. This shows that kinetics with as few as 100ng/ml may
be recorded.
