SURFACE AND AFM TIP CLEANER

UV-TipCleaner Includes a safety interlock, indicator lights and 60 minute timer.

The Bioforce UV-TipCleaner cleans sensor surfaces, AFM probes, glass slides and wafers. Applications include:

• Cleaning silicon wafers and creating patterned surfaces by masking.
• Cleaning/conditioning/oxidising tips, wafers, silicon, silicon nitride, glass, gold and other metal coatings.
• Curing UV-adhesives.
• Surface sterilisation - inactivating biological materials and organisms.

Contamination removal
Using the UV-TipCleaner produces sharper, more accurate AFM images. A key attribute of the cleaner is its ability to remove contaminants on the probes. This example shows the surface morphology of an AFM probe acquired by imaging a very sharp protuberance on a surface. The image on the left shows a probe contaminated with large surface debris of a proteinaceous nature. After 30 minutes of treatment in the UV-TipCleaner the large tip contaminant is completely removed.

The UV-TipCleaner is also very effective in removing hydrophobic surface oils. After 15 minutes of treatment a much stronger adhesive force is obtained. This is due to the increased hydrophilicity of the AFM probe, resulting in stronger capillary forces.
